Anwar Ibrahim’s aide has urged Abdul Hadi Awang to spread love instead of hate but the PAS president’s aide retorted that his boss' stinging salvos hurt those driven by lust the most.

Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, who is Anwar’s political secretary in his capacity as finance minister, said Hadi must accept that there are differing opinions in this world.

"The mind of the PAS president never disappoints. His message is clear (and consistent). He espouses hatred, hatred and more hatred.

"May Allah guide the mind of the president so that he may work towards spreading the seeds of love, responsibility, to be less prejudiced and provide constructive criticism," he added in a statement.

Kamil (above, left) was commenting on Hadi's latest musings in his "Minda presiden" article series - where he claimed that Umno and Amanah were now "DAP's gurkha (guard)".

The PAS president alleged that Umno and Amanah were armed with "fake Islamic branded weapons" and were protecting the secularist DAP.

"According to DAP, the definition of Islam in the Federal Constitution is to reduce the status of Islam, as what the colonialists did.

"DAP is also pursuing the 'Malaysian Malaysia' concept which diminishes the supremacy of Malay Muslims and bumiputera who own this land.

"The purpose is to provide foreigners equal treatment, similar to what the colonialists did, in order to weaken the position of Malays and Muslims," he added.

‘Bitter like bile, sweet as honey’

Defending the PAS president, his political secretary Syahir Sulaiman acknowledged that Hadi’s remarks can be “pahit umpama hempedu (bitter like bile)”.

Without elaborating, he said the messages are a bitter pill for “certain quarters, especially those driven by lust”.

“However, it can be as ‘manis umpama madu (as sweet as honey) for those whose hearts are opened to being guided by the divine,” he added.

Syarir also cited a Quranic verse on the need to “remind and warn those with open hearts even if some hearts may be hurt”.
