Bentong Umno info chief entrusted with defending Pelangai seat

Bentong Umno information chief Amizar Abu Adam was announced as BN’s candidate for the Pelangai by-election.

The appointment was announced by Pahang BN chairperson Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail during the candidate announcement ceremony at the Bentong District Council Hall tonight.

Amizar (above, left) previously contested the Ketari state assembly seat in the 15th general election (GE15) last year.

The Pelangai state assembly by-election will be held on Oct 7 following the death of Johari Harun, 53, in a plane crash near the town of Elmina, Shah Alam, Selangor on Aug 17.

The Election Commission set the nomination day for this Saturday, while Oct 3 is early voting day.

In GE15, Johari won with a majority of 4,048 votes defeating Perikatan Nasional candidate Kasim Samat, Pakatan Harapan candidate Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri, and Pejuang candidate Isa Ahmad.

The Pelangai state seat has 16,456 voters.
