There are no criminal elements found in the report lodged against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's photographer by an aide to Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, according to Kuala Lumpur police.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that no investigation has been opened based on the police report linked to a photograph shot by Sadiq Asyraf allegedly showing Ikmal vaping in Parliament.

"From our classification, we have decided there is no investigation because there are no criminal elements involved," said Allaudeen at a press conference in Sentul, as quoted by The Star today.

According to the English daily, Allaudeen said police have studied the report lodged at the Dang Wangi district police station yesterday.

The report was lodged against Sadiq over a photograph he uploaded on his X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption: "Betul-betul koyak terus tarik vape sambil keluar dewan" or "extremely triggered, immediately starts vaping while coming out of the Dewan Rakyat".

The photo was posted on Sept 21, taken two days prior when PN MPs staged a walkout of the Dewan Rakyat during Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's winding-up speech on the 12th Malaysia Plan mid-term review debates.

Ikmal yesterday reiterated his previous explanation that the supposed vaping device seen in the image was a pen that he momentarily lifted to his lips.

The PN lawmaker also said he would respond to Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul's request for an explanation of the alleged incident, while at the same time urging for a review of CCTV footage of the area.
