T’ganu MB: SG4 open to all views, including Kit Siang's

PAS MUKTAMAR | Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said he was open to accepting anyone’s views in regard to the role of the four PAS-governed state governments (SG4).

He said that the appointment of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the group’s adviser would provide added value and attract foreign investments, while strengthening its cooperation with Putrajaya.

"I’m open to getting advice and suggestions, including from (DAP veteran) Lim Kit Siang, if he wants to give views and ideas. This is beyond politics.

"If we want to indulge in politics all the time and can't do things due to political differences, I don't think we can move forward," he said at a press conference held by the four menteri besars of the PN-helmed states at the 69th PAS Muktamar at IDCC Shah Alam today.

According to Samsuri, to achieve the aspirations and goals of SG4, the cooperation and views of all parties are welcomed.

"We are facing various issues in our country. As such, we have to relook at the political approach practised thus far.

"There are things that need non-partisan and non-political commitment. In my opinion, whatever added value we can get from anyone, so be it," he said.

Samsuri reiterated that SG4 was not looking into competing with the federal government or any other states.

"We cannot deny the cooperation that exists between the states and we are subject to Schedule 9 of the Federal Constitution, where the powers of the state government, federal government and both are clearly laid out.

"We don't wish to disturb or compete with anyone. We just want to cooperate with all parties," he said.
