Cries of 'Free Palestine' ring out at Dataran Merdeka

Thousands have gathered at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur today in support of the Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Armed with banners and flags, the crowd chanted “Free Palestine” and “We support Palestine”.

The “Freedom for Palestine” gathering organisers Viva Palestine and Humanitarian Care Malaysia Bhd (MyCare) condemned the actions of Israel.

“Ten years ago, in 2014, we gathered at this same place to support the struggle of the oppressed Palestinian people…

“Today, we have gathered again to condemn (the attacks) and pressure the world nations, including Israel, to stop the attacks,” said MyCare honorary adviser Dr Hafidzi Md Noor.

Also present were Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil and former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

War crime

Nurul Izzah also called on Malaysians to stand with Palestine and reject the war crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza.

“The United Nations has certified that Israel has oppressed the Palestinians. They are still besieging, killing and oppressing the Palestinians and the Americans have colluded with Israel.

“Some aid to Palestine has not arrived, and some aid has been bombed for helping the Palestinians. Everyone wants a common humanitarian spirit to stop this Israeli brutality.

“Israel has no right to defend that place because the country belongs to Palestine. The Zionist regime has committed war crimes and they need to return the country to Palestine," she said.

Nurul Izzah, who is the eldest daughter of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, also called on the world to defend Palestine and stop Israel from all international media platforms that have been deceiving people around the world.
