Some 1,500 protesters marched from Jalan Tun Razak towards the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon to show their solidarity with Palestinians and condemn Israel for its aggression against Gaza.
The rally started at about 2pm after Friday prayer at Tabung Haji Tower with participation from many influential figures, including prominent politicians and NGO leaders.
Among those who spoke to show their support for Palestinians include former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin, and Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir.

The crowd chanted many slogans during the march to show their anger towards Israel for striking a hospital and killing hundreds of victims several days ago.
"Long live, Palestine! Down, down, Israel!
"USA 'bangsat' (damn you, USA)!" chanted the protesters as they make their way towards the embassy.
A spokesperson for the organiser in his speech at the start of the rally criticised the US for supporting Israel.
"USA and Israel, know that you are not fit to be called human.
"You are also not fit to be called animals because you are worse than animals. You are devils," he said.
The protesters, however, could not reach the US Embassy and had to stop some 200m away where police had set up a roadblock.

A minor altercation broke out when a small group of the participants wanted to get past the police line but managed to be stopped by the cops and rally organisers, who told them to respect the authorities working to ensure peace.
The day, which started somewhat sunny, turned cloudy and soon came a downpour. But that did not dampen the spirit of the protesters, with several politicians and NGO representatives delivering their speeches during the one-hour demonstration.
'US, Britain are terrorists'
Mahathir, in his speech, called the US, Britain and other countries that continue to support Israel "terrorists".
He said the label is befitting as they disregard such a heinous act because of their friendship with the regime.
"It was an extraordinary cruelty by Israel to target a hospital, an act that goes against the international laws.
"But America and Britain, and several other countries, supported the attack against the hospital in Gaza, which means they are also terrorists.
"Because only terrorists would attack hospitals during a war.
“And this is the very reason why we gathered here today to show our disgust at the US and Britain’s ignorance of the attack on a hospital because of their friendship with Israel," he said.

Meanwhile, during the protest, Khairy, Mukhriz, and several NGO representatives were allowed entry to send a memorandum to the US Embassy.
It was learned that the memorandum addressed to the US ambassador to Malaysia was received by an embassy official.
According to a copy of the document, it condemned Israel's attacks on civilians and called out the US as being complicit with the war crimes committed by the Zionist regime.
