Govt asks X to remove post calling minister 'moron'
The government has allegedly written to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to request a post critical of a minister be taken down.

The government has allegedly written to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to request a post critical of a minister be taken down.
According to the notice sent to the social media user, whose handle is @yindian5, it was a post calling Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil a "bloody moron" and the prime minister's "lackey".
In its notice, the social media platform said it received a request from the Malaysian government, claiming that the post "violates the laws of Malaysia".
However, the social media platform said it has not taken any action against the reported content, which was posted on Dec 12, after Fahmi was announced as communications minister.
When contacted, the minister's office said the report did not come from the Communications Ministry, and the minister would not be responding on the matter.
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, which enforces regulations in the Malaysian digital sphere, has not responded to Malaysiakini's questions.
The MCMC is an agency under the Communications Ministry.
Removal requests
According to X, it is part of its policy to inform its users if there are any legal requests pertaining to their accounts.
From July to December 2021, the platform received 189 legal requests to take action against 191 accounts from Malaysia.
X has not published reports of legal requests since then.
Of the 189 removal requests, the social media platform took down 27 percent of the content reported while 43 accounts were suspended.
It said one account was removed after a legal demand from the MCMC.
The MCMC issued the demand after receiving a complaint from the Housing and Local Government Ministry that a user was publishing "purposely misleading information to deceive Malaysian users through financial transactions".
The reported account was suspended for violating Twitter's financial scam policy, it said.

"bloody moron" ? "lackey" ? Hmmm That should be taken as a feedback from the people. So, now, try to do things better....to create a more favourable image. Prove the people wrong.
