Arson over political differences unacceptable - PAS leader

A PAS leader has condemned the alleged arson on Perak DAP leader Ngeh Koo Ham's house this morning as being an unacceptable act.

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari expressed sympathy over the incident believed to be a Molotov cocktail attack.

"No matter what differences happen in politics, burning and sabotaging a person's property, especially when there are lives at risk, is unacceptable.

"We leave it to the authorities to investigate according to existing laws.

"All parties are advised to refrain from making speculations that can interfere with investigations by authorities," Fadhli (above) said in a statement today.

Pejuang information chief Rafique Rashid also condemned the alleged attack.

"Pejuang condemns any criminal act and violence against anyone, what more inhuman actions which could lead to loss of life and property.

"Even though Pejuang has differences of opinion with DAP and other parties or individuals in other matters, it does not permit criminal acts as what happened this morning," he said in a statement today.

No casualties

Earlier, Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri confirmed that arson is suspected in the case but noted that the investigation is being carried out from multiple angles.

There were no casualties reported in the 2.50am incident but three cars were affected, including a Mercedes E300, which was almost completely razed.

Also partially burnt were a Honda CRV, and Toyota Hilux, as well as the house’s porch roof.

Ngeh and his wife were reportedly asleep during the incident before a passerby rang their doorbell and alerted them of the fire.
