Khairul visits Kampung Chuang Rasa

6.15pm: Rasa, Selangor - Perikatan Nasional candidate Khairul Azhari Saut campaigns in the Chinese constituency of Kampung Chuang Rasa.

He spends about 30 minutes there as many shops have closed for the day. He manages to visit around 10 shops.

Ramasamy wants voters to teach govt a lesson

4.30pm: Kuala Kubu Baharu, Selangor – Parti Bersepakat Hak Rakyat Malaysia (Urimai), founded by former Penang deputy chief minister P Ramasamy, is urging voters to reject Pakatan Harapan’s candidate.

Campaigning for the first time with the new party, Ramasamy says this is to teach Anwar Ibrahim’s government a lesson for failing to fulfil its promises to the rakyat.

“Today is our first time campaigning here and it’s a unique campaign.

“We’re not campaigning for any party. Instead, we’re campaigning to reject Harapan.

“Voters are free to choose any candidate other than Harapan’s,” says Ramasamy (above) in a press conference.

Ramasamy quit DAP in August last year, citing unhappiness with the party.

DAP sets up third Malay branch in Hulu S’gor

2.30pm: Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor - DAP has set up its third Malay branch in Hulu Selangor.

Party member Muhammad Dzulfiqri Md, accompanied by Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao, submitted the forms to Selangor DAP chief Gobind Singh Deo.

Also present are Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman and Kota Kemuning assemblyperson Preakas Sampunathan.

When asked about his reasons for joining DAP, 21-year-old Dzulfiqri said: "When we look at the younger generation, they seem neglected in other parties. But when we join DAP, they welcome us with enthusiasm and open arms."

Khairul vows to assist all KKB folk regardless of race

12pm: Rasa, Hulu Selangor - Perikatan Nasional candidate Khairul Azhari Saut promises to assist all his constituents if he wins Kuala Kubu Baharu.

"We in PN attend to all people, regardless of their race and religion.

"When we (PN) were the government, we attended to everyone, as long as they are Malaysians," Khairul tells reporters after attending a programme at the Voice of Holy Spirit Ministries Church in Kampung Chuang Rasa, Hulu Selangor.

Two days into campaigning, Khairul says his presence on the campaign trail has been well accepted by non-Muslim voters.

Pang and Khairul cross paths at morning market

9am: Batang Kali, Selangor - The Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional candidates cross paths while campaigning at the Batang Kali morning market.

The Harapan team spots PN’s pick Khairul Azhari Saut nearby and approaches to greet him.

Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao briefly chats with Khairul.

“Later give us your schedule, so we can be (campaign) together,” Khairul jokes.

Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan who is campaigning together with Pang is also seen embracing PN Hulu Selangor MP Hasnizan Harun.

Candidates on morning stroll at Batang Kali market

8.20am: Batang Kali, Selangor - Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao visits the Batang Kali morning market with Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan and Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman who are there to introduce Pang to Malay voters.

Batang Kali has a majority Malay electorate.

Perikatan Nasional candidate Khairul Azhari Saut is also on the campaign trail in the same market.

At the moment, the two candidates have not met.

‘Duit raya’ cancelled for govt’s KKB open house

8am: The gifting of ”duit raya” at the state government’s Hari Raya open house event in Kuala Kubu Baharu was cancelled to avoid prejudice, says Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

"We have received advice and feedback, and we don't want people to say bad things, so the decision (to cancel giving the money) was taken.

"As I said earlier, we listen to feedback from all parties," Amirudin told reporters after attending the open house last night.

He was responding to an allegation by electoral watchdog Bersih that the state government had committed election offences by holding the open house and listing “duit raya” as part of the agenda.
