PARLIAMENT | Mayhem ensued in the Dewan Rakyat earlier today after an opposition MP claimed that DAP leaders had applied to acquire a parcel of land in Kelantan.
The allegation by Awang Solahuddin Hashim (PN-Pendang) created a furore among Pakatan Harapan representatives, who demanded that the PAS leader reveal the names of the MPs in question and provide evidence to back his claim.
“I challenge you to name them now if you have the courage to say it.
“Tell us the names - who are the DAP leaders who allegedly asked for land in Kelantan. Say it now in the Parliament, Pendang.
“I dare you!” said RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong), who interjected during a winding-up speech by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M Kulasegaran.
In response to this, Awang Solahuddin (above) said he was ready to provide a list containing names of DAP leaders who had allegedly made applications for land parcels in the east coast state.
“I will list out the names... there are many DAP leaders applying for land in Kelantan, and he (Rayer) does not even know this.
“...some of them have already got their applications approved,” Awang Solahuddin said.
The response irked Rayer even further and led him to press the PN leader for an immediate answer.
However, Awang Solahuddin asked Rayer to ask the question to Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham instead.
Gold mining in Kelantan
Awang Solahuddin made the claim in response to an issue Rayer had raised in the Dewan Rakyat earlier.

Rayer asked the government to reveal in detail the issue of gold mining activities in Kelantan by a company called Akademi Yakin Sdn Bhd (AYSB), which was linked to former Kelantan menteri besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
It was the same issue that caused yesterday’s Dewan Rakyat sitting to be adjourned early following a verbal altercation between MPs from the opposite sides.
Kulasegaran in his speech also touched on the issue where he asked the Pendang MP not to make baseless accusations against any DAP leader.
According to the deputy minister, who is also from DAP, the party does not allow its members to apply for land from any government for their personal interest.
