Minister attributes diesel subsidy fleet card delays to oil companies

PARLIAMENT | The Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Ministry has attributed the delays in issuing diesel subsidy fleet cards to the five major oil companies participating in the Subsidised Diesel Control System 2.0 (SKDS 2.0).

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat today, its minister Armizan Mohd Ali clarified that the hold-up did not come from his ministry.

“In the approval stage of MySubsidi Diesel, there is no problem in the ministry, we can approve the applications immediately once we receive the full documents.

“But I must admit that there’s a problem in terms of the issuance of fleet cards by the oil companies.

“We will continue our engagement with the oil companies to ensure that the fleet cards will be issued faster,” he said in the august house today.

Armizan (above) said this in response to Khoo Poay Tiong (Harapan-Kota Melaka), who pointed out that many eligible users have yet to receive their fleet cards.

While bus and truck operators were entitled to reimbursements, Khoo asserted that such delays should be avoided.

The five main oil companies involved are Petronas, Shell, Petron, Caltex, and BHP.

Cash cards

Besides reimbursements, Armizan said the government has asked oil companies to implement the use of cash cards while waiting for the issuance of fleet cards.

“The Finance Ministry will also help in simplifying the process.

“God willing, we take note of Khoo’s concerns and also some of the difficulties faced by users due to the fleet card issue.

“We will continue to work closely with all five oil companies to expedite the issuance of the fleet cards,” he added.

On May 30, Armizan was reported as saying that the five major oil companies will collectively provide one million fleet cards, ensuring a continuous supply.

He highlighted that these cards expedite the application process for 410,000 vehicles across 23 types of goods transported under SKDS 2.0.
