Sentul District police chief Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari confirmed the arrest of a second suspect in the cyberbullying case linked to a TikTok influencer’s alleged suicide earlier this month.

Sukarno said the local man was arrested in Setapak yesterday and has been remanded for four days.

“The 44-year-old local suspect was arrested around 6.30pm in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday. The suspect, a truck driver, has been remanded for four days starting today until July 14,” he said.

On Monday, police arrested the first suspect, a 35-year-old local woman, who remains in custody after her remand was extended until Friday.

The tragic incident on July 6 resulted in the death of the 30-year-old victim and raised significant attention on social media, with many claiming it was due to relentless online harassment over several weeks.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the case had been referred to the police for an investigation.

Threats, vulgar and obscene language

On July 8, Sukarno said police received a complaint on July 6 from a 39-year-old man about threats made against a social media influencer, Rajeswary (Esha) through TikTok.

“(The complainant) saw two posts on TikTok by accounts named Dulal Brothers and TikTok Alphaquinnsha containing slander and threats against Rajeswary,” he said.

He added that the content also contained threats and intimidation as well as vulgar and obscene language.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code (criminal threats), Section 233 of the Multimedia Communications Act 1998 (dissemination of obscene statements), and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act (disgraceful conduct).
