Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his sympathy for former US president Donald Trump who was injured in a shooting incident while campaigning yesterday.

"We just got preliminary information (on the incident).

“Regardless of our stance on any figure, we sympathise with Trump and hope the situation is under control," Anwar told reporters after the Felda Settlers' Day Celebration in Serdang today.

Earlier, Trump was reported to be "in good condition" after being injured in a shooting incident while on the campaign trail in Pennsylvania.

Social media footage showed Trump with his right ear covered in blood as he was led off the stage.

Anadolu Agency reported Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said the former president was "in good condition".

"Trump thanked law enforcement and emergency responders for their swift action during this heinous incident.”

Zionist attack

Anwar also said Malaysia strongly condemned the Israeli Zionist regime's attack on the Al-Mawasi refugee camp in Gaza yesterday.

"Malaysia strongly condemns the Israeli terrorist attacks on women, civilians and children in Gaza.

"This action continues because of the failure of big countries to defend humanity and rights, therefore the Malaysian government once again affirms our strong position condemning the continued inhumane tyranny of the Israeli Zionist regime," he said.

Anwar stressed that the latest attack had cost the lives of innocent Palestinians including women and children, while hundreds of others were injured.
