Newscaster shares anguish of reporting on friend’s murder

An RTM newscaster has shared how painful it was for him to report on the murder of his friend, Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25, who was found dead yesterday.

Anas Muhammad Farihin, 25, said he was especially grief-stricken because they were close friends, having attended Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris together.

“It was my turn to read the news last night. I had to take a moment when I heard the news at 9pm.

“I had mixed emotions, including complete disbelief, until the police released a statement confirming it happened,” he told Harian Metro today.

“I admit I felt like breaking down when I read the news, but I had to hold it back. I had to control my emotions and express it in a more controlled manner, even though I was among the first to learn about it,” he said.

Farah’s body was found at about 6pm yesterday at a palm oil estate in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, after she was reported missing last Thursday (July 11).

A civil servant aged 26 was remanded for seven days from today and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which deals with murder.

Police said the civil servant is the deceased’s boyfriend.

Farah was reported missing after sending a rented vehicle to a client last Wednesday.
