Bukit Aman planning high-profile transfers?

The Bukit Aman federal police headquarters is allegedly planning a major reshuffle of its top leadership, with several senior officers expected to be transferred out of the agency.

According to sources, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay is allegedly among those who will be affected by the move.

"From what we heard, Ayob might be sent out to lead another agency under the Home Ministry.

"He is going to lead either the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) or the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA)," a police source told Malaysiakini.

While Ayob remained mum about the claim, a senior ministry official indicated that if there was such a reshuffling plan the Home Ministry was not involved in it.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that it was Bukit Aman’s internal plan.

"The Home Ministry is not involved in this. It’s got to do with the dynamics within the Royal Malaysia Police," claimed the source.

Malaysiakini has reached out to Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain for comments.

CID director to AADK?

Another senior officer who is allegedly going to be transferred out of Bukit Aman is Criminal Investigation Department director Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

According to sources, the three-star police commissioner might be sent to the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) as its next director-general.

Malaysiakini has also contacted Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail's office and Shuhaily for comments.

For the record, the number one posts at MMEA and AADK have been left vacant since April.

Former MMEA director-general Hamid Mohd Amin went into mandatory retirement on April 18 while AADK’s director-general Sutekno Ahmad Belon moved to the Human Resources Ministry in a promotion transfer as its deputy secretary-general of operations.

IGP issues denial

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain later today issued a denial to the purported reshuffle, calling the report “untrue” as the federal police headquarters has not issued an official statement on the matter.

Razarudin said police are aware of a news report quoting sources alleging that it was a Bukit Aman “internal plan” with several senior officers expected to be transferred out of the agency.

"The Royal Malaysian Police urge all quarters to not quote unofficial sources particularly when involving the security forces and government agencies," he said in a statement.

Police report lodged

A police report has since been lodged over the claim.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Mohd Isa said a Bukit Aman officer lodged the report to facilitate further investigations.

Rusdi said the case is now being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.
