Bersatu: MPs who inked SDs will be witnesses if Muhyiddin charged

Bersatu information chief Razali Idris launched a blistering counter to those who have challenged his party president Muhyiddin Yassin to reveal the names of MPs who supported him to become prime minister after the last general election.

Training his guns on Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi and former Sabah chief minister Salleh Said Keruak, he told the pair to zip their lips.

Apart from claiming the duo knew the identities of the MPs and that the latter were subjected to “threats”, he said these lawmakers would have to testify in court if Muhyiddin is charged.

“They can’t lie in court. They have signed a statutory declaration (SD). More things will be exposed,” he added in a statement this afternoon.

Razali cautioned against pushing an “anak jantan” (man) against the wall because the only option would be to retaliate.

“If you were in his position, you would do the same. Unless you are a ‘pondan’ (sissy). (Capable of only) making a lot of noise from the safe confines of your father’s house,” he added.

BN disputes Muhyiddin’s numbers

Yesterday, Muhyiddin, who is also Perikatan Nasional chairperson, submitted a total of 115 SDs to the police concerning their investigation into his recent speech, which has been deemed as insulting to the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong regarding the appointment of the prime minister after the 2022 national polls.

The SDs, which included his own, were purportedly from lawmakers who supported him to be the prime minister after the 15th general election which resulted in a political deadlock.

He also submitted a letter from the private secretary to the then king Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah affirming that he had received the declarations on Nov 21, 2022.

Muhyiddin said he had attached to his document 51 SDs from PN, PAS (22), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (22), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (six), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Malaysia (one), as well as SDs from 10 BN MPs and two independent MPs.

The SDs from PN and PAS MPs were separate as PN had contested using the PAS logo in Terengganu and Kelantan.

Earlier today, Puad had challenged Muhyiddin to reveal the names of the 10 BN MPs who backed him whereas Salleh also demanded that he prove he had the support.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told reporters this morning that Muhyiddin had only 105 statutory declarations, which is not enough to form the government.

He said the 10 SDs from BN MPs were invalid.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain yesterday said investigation papers on the issue have been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.
