Pahang Pakatan Harapan should be given recognition and appropriate roles in the state administration in line with the coalition government concept, said Fuziah Salleh.
According to Bernama, the newly minted Pahang Harapan chairperson stressed that more of her coalition’s supporters should be involved in the grassroots structure of the Pahang administration.
This will strengthen cooperation, she said, especially in preparation for the next general election.
Fuziah was made chairperson of the coalition’s state chapter in a meeting on Monday, taking over the post from Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari.
“Our meeting also agreed to support the mutual understanding that has been signed and will continue to strengthen the government in Pahang in line with the principles of unity and cooperation in power-sharing.
“Indeed, the formation of the present Pahang government is a result of the seats won by Harapan in GE15,” said Fuziah, who is also the domestic trade and cost of living deputy minister.
Following the 15th general election in 2022, both Pahang BN and Harapan joined forces to form the state government as no coalition had a clear majority.
While BN and Harapan collectively control 25 seats, Perikatan Nasional controls 17 out of the 42 state legislative assembly seats.
The ruling coalition also appointed five assemblypersons in May, further solidifying its hold on the government.
