At least 13 children rescued in raids on Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) welfare homes are believed to have been sodomised, according to police.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain is reported to have revised the number of children rescued in the raids from 402 to 392.

Of the 392, 172 had been screened as possible sexual exploitation victims.

“Our preliminary investigation found that there were four children who were allegedly sodomised. Upon further interviews with the other victims, we discovered there were nine more.

“So, altogether there are 13, and they are all teenagers,” he was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

Police have opened investigation papers against four men suspected of committing the crimes.

Raid on homes

On Wednesday, police raided 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan allegedly run by GISBH - a group with close links to the banned al-Arqam deviant group.

The raids came following a police report on Sept 2 about alleged child abandonment, sexual assault and harassment of children at the welfare homes.

Razarudin had claimed that the children had been sodomised by their guardians and trained to sodomise each other.

GISBH has denied operating the homes involved, as well the allegations that children under its care were abused and sodomised.

Razarudin said today that of the children rescued, more than half were between the ages of four and 12.

“Police interviews with them (victims) found that they had been separated from their parents since they were two years old, and some have not met their parents for years due to them being abroad, including in Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, on the company’s (GISBH) orders,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
