Kids not 'trained to sodomise' at our welfare homes, GISBH says

Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) has denied claims that children at its welfare homes were sodomised, and trained to commit sodomy.

The group said it does not operate the welfare homes facing the allegations.

“It is not our policy to do things that go against Islam, and the laws.

“On the contrary, GISBH always ensures Islam as a way of life in all aspects,” the group said in a statement.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said police raided 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, believed to be run by the group, and rescued 402 children aged between seven months and 17.

A total of 171 people were rounded up in the raids, which came following a police report on Sept 2 alleging child abandonment, sexual assault and harassment of children at the welfare homes.

Razarudin claimed that guardians at the homes subjected children to sodomy trained them to commit the act on one another, and also made them watch other children undergo the same predicament.

The group is being probed under the Child Act 2001 (Act 611), the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, as well as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (Act 670).

Prejudicial claims

In its latest statement, GISBH reiterated that the allegations levelled against it were prejudiced, a form of defamation and done with malicious intent by parties with their own agenda.

The group threatened to lodge a police report and initiate legal action against the accusing parties.

Former members of the Al-Arqam group, which the government banned due to deviant teachings, reportedly established GISBH.

However, the company has continuously denied that it is linked to the religious cult.

‘Most severe punishment’

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said, if the news reports were true, the perpetrators of the incident should receive the “most severe punishment.”

“I hope those with information of such incidents, or have gone through such situation, will have the courage to report it to the authorities.

“I also urge the authorities to raid and investigate every single premises (operated by GISBH) and ensure similar incidents do not happen elsewhere.

“This (the teaching) is not Islamic, it is demonic,” the Merlimau assemblyperson wrote on Facebook.

Amanah Youth communications chief Asim Abdullah Ainullotfi voiced similar sentiments.

Aside from taking strict action against the culprits, Asim also urged the government to step up monitoring of childcare institutions nationwide.

“The government should also accord any form of help and support available, including counselling and medical assistance, for children affected in this case,” he said in a statement.
