Being uncouth is not PAS' culture: Fadhli on Akmal-Teresa spat
PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said his party has never resorted to being uncouth or used harsh language when expressing disagreement with others.

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said his party has never resorted to being uncouth or used harsh language when expressing disagreement with others.
He said this when asked to comment about Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh’s spat with DAP vice-chairperson Teresa Kok about the halal certification issue.
“In principle, we disagree with Kok on the matter and we have lodged police reports in the past (when it comes to such matters).
“However, PAS doesn’t resort to using harsh language that would hurt someone’s feelings.
“That’s not our culture but I’m not referring to anyone here,” Fadhli (above) said during a press conference after attending a party event held at the Bangi Convention Centre.
On Sept 11, Kok sent a legal notice to Akmal seeking RM25 million in damages for calling her “Nyonya tua” (old Nyonya) and wanting to stick a non-halal logo on her forehead.

The Seputeh DAP Youth wing also filed a police report against Akmal.
The Merlimau assemblyperson had trained his guns on Kok for “interfering” in Islamic matters concerning her comments on the halal certification issue.
On Sept 29, Akmal defended his outburst against the Seputeh MP when called by the police for questioning.
“My response was that (halal) is a very sensitive issue, and we have issued reminders many times before that if we want to keep the harmony in our country, such sensitive issues must never be broached.
“My remarks were merely a response to what Kok had said (on the issue).
“We did not attack anyone but just respond to her statement, which has hurt not only myself but all Malay Muslims in this country,” he was reported as saying.
Voice your views professionally
PAS supreme council member Annuar Musa urged all quarters to learn from the tiff between the Umno and DAP leaders.

“We must voice our views professionally and not succumb to sentiments or be emotional… look at the subject matter.
“When it comes to Muslim sensitivities, non-Muslims must not cross certain limits as a sign of respect. Remember that we live in a nation that has many religions.
“As for Muslims, mind your manners. Islam is beautiful, pure, and has its own code. So, there is no need for me to comment any further,” the former Ketereh MP added.
