A PAS Youth leader said replacing Amirudin Shari as the Selangor menteri besar could solve the state’s flooding issues.
According to Selangor PAS Youth elections director Kamarul Jamaluddin, this is because Amirudin’s administration failed to make sufficient flood mitigation efforts.
“Selangor is constantly flooding even during normal rains. Until when do the people of Selangor have to live in anxiety and worry? Perhaps the best solution is to replace Amirudin with a new menteri besar,” he said in a statement today.
He was backing his colleague, Selangor PAS Youth chief Mohamed Sukri Omar who said yesterday that Selangor continues to grapple with flooding despite billions of ringgit allocated for flood mitigation projects in the state.
In response, Amirudin’s political secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad said Sukri’s statement made the PAS leader sound “unintelligent”.
Threatens the people
Elaborating, Kamarul (above), who is also the Selayang PAS Youth chief, said the alleged failure of Amirudin’s administration to provide effective flood mitigation threatened the people’s lives and livelihoods.

“Selangorians may remember the huge flood in December 2021, which affected almost 80,000 people and caused RM6.1 billion worth of damages.
“However, there has yet to be long term plans to overcome this problem despite early warnings by the Meteorological Department.”
For the record, Amirudin has helmed the state government for six years since taking over the mantle from former menteri besar Azmin Ali in 2018.
Three days ago, several areas in three districts of Selangor experienced flooding, forcing over 1,000 residents to seek refuge in temporary evacuation centres.
According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the affected districts included Gombak, Shah Alam, and Kuala Selangor.
The alleged failure by the Selangor government to address the recurring flooding problem could be nails on Pakatan Harapan’s coffin in the next general election, Kamarul claimed further.
He then urged the state government to disburse special allocations to improve drainage systems and build drainage in high-risk areas with the latest technology, such as integrated flood control systems used in developed countries.
Stupid comments. You think if pas take over the flood problem could be solve. This is monsoon rain. Country like usa, india, china, taiwan and hong kong also couuld not stop it. Use your brain brother.
