MM2H licence abuse: Tiong urges PN MP to share info for action

PARLIAMENT | Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing urged Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) to share information on companies that allegedly misused their Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) licence.

This comes after the opposition MP alleged that some companies licensed under the programme had appointed a “sub-agent” to work as their “master agent” in implementing the programme.

“Please provide me with information if you have any.

“In terms of the exact number of agents we have, I don’t have it with me now as I just returned from overseas. I will provide a written reply later,” Tiong said during the Minister’s Question Time at Dewan Rakyat in reply to Mas Ermieyati today.

Elaborating, Tiong said his ministry has launched an investigation to identify licensed agents who have provided false information about the programme.

He also said the action was taken following complaints from applicants, which included allegations that the programme was still inactive, hence, applications would not be accepted.

“There are various types of allegations being made (about MM2H) because some agents gave their licence to other parties… which didn’t even have their own office.

“This is the problem (we are facing now) which is leaving many disgruntled. We will answer (the allegations) and monitor the situation,” he added.
