'What's Hadi's motive of bringing up decade-old dream of meeting Prophet?'

An Umno leader has questioned the motive behind PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang bringing up a dream he had of meeting the Prophet that occurred a decade ago.

Mohd Puad Zarkashi also wants to know what efforts Hadi has taken to realise the alleged message he received in his sleep from Prophet Muhammad telling him to unite Muslims.

“PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari is right, what’s the fuss about Hadi dreaming of meeting Prophet Muhammad?

“The real question is, why bring up the dream of meeting the Prophet 10 years later, claiming he was told to reconcile Sunnis and Shias?

“What is the motive? Does Hadi want PAS members and the public to revere him more? Just asking, not trying to get worked up about it.

“And what has Hadi done to realise that good dream?” Puad (above, left) said on Facebook today.

The Umno supreme council member pointed out that reuniting Sunnis and Shias worldwide is not an easy task.

“Has he started his efforts? Ten years have already passed,” he added.

Yesterday, PAS came to its president's defence after a video showed Hadi speaking about his dream, causing a stir online and courting varied reactions from political leaders.

Fadhli emphasised that no one was forced to believe it.

The Pasir Mas MP further clarified that Hadi’s story was shared in a “family” context during a programme, and it was not intended to elevate the PAS president or for self-praise.

“Even if we, his ‘children’ in PAS, choose to believe. What’s the issue? Why are you so worked up about it?” Fadhli had said.

‘Unite PAS and Umno instead’

Puad also suggested that the dream could be a sign for Hadi to act closer to home, by uniting the Islamist party with Umno.

“Perhaps the dream is a reminder for Hadi to reconcile Umno and PAS first.

“Don’t play politics. Join the unity government. Only God knows,” Puad added.
