The Malaysiakini page is going black and white from 9.30am to noon in solidarity with today's protest against proposed amendments to the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA).

The protest at Parliament is co-organised by the National Union of Journalists of Peninsular Malaysia, Gerakan Media Merdeka and the Centre for Independent Journalism.

The proposed amendments reportedly include reintroducing an annual licensing scheme for media publications and extending the PPPA to online media.

If passed, this could directly impact Malaysiakini's ability to report without fear or favour.
