Najib's son: Come clean on 'house arrest addendum' or be punished in GE

A son of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak warned the government to come clean about the alleged supplementary order by former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah which ordered Najib’s house arrest.

In a statement on Facebook today, Nazifuddin Najib said the people want to see the Pakatan Harapan-BN-led government be “sincere and transparent”, and justice to be served without political interference.

If it failed to do so, the ruling coalition might be punished in the polls, said the Langkawi Umno division chief.

“Why hide the truth and what is the intention of those involved directly in the addendum order for my father Najib? This only shows how low the integrity system we have today.

“My father’s addendum order has been revealed and even went viral on social media, which is clear and strong evidence. This decision further strengthened his right to get a fair trial and due process.

“The rakyat is demanding that justice be upheld transparently, without any deviation or political interference by hidden hands. Malaysians want to see the Harapan-BN-led government do something sincere and transparent.

“Should the government fail to take this matter seriously and allow hidden hands to do whatever they like with the country’s legal system, then do not be surprised if the government gets punished in the next general election,” he said.

Nizar’s affidavit

Nazifuddin’s statement comes a day after his eldest brother Nizar filed an affidavit affirming the Pahang sultan told him about the royal addendum for the former premier to serve the remainder of his six-year jail sentence on house arrest.

On this, Nazifuddin said his brother would not dare lie and abuse Sultan Abdullah’s good name as he has high respect for the monarch.

The Umno Youth exco member further chided politicians who tried to deny the addendum’s alleged existence.

“To me, such statements are unwise and a desperate attempt by some politicians and their supporters, who seem to be scared of my father’s ever-growing influence among the rakyat,” he said.

Nazifuddin also questioned why Nizar’s affidavit was made inaccessible to the public, unlike other cases that can be found on the judiciary’s online filing system.

This, he claimed, showed a lack of transparency and caused the public to question the legal system.

“I believe that every day my father has to ‘rest’ in the Kajang prison is morally wrong, and with this ‘valid’ addendum order, it is unjustified for him to continue to be kept behind bars.

“The effects of my father’s ‘sumpah mubahalah’ (oath swearing) have started showing,” he said.
