Police are investigating claims that a local female rap artist was secretly filmed during a raid by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MBSJ) Operations Division at a beauty and wellness centre in Subang Jaya last Wednesday.
Subang Jaya police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat confirmed that two reports were filed - one by MBSJ regarding the raid, which went viral on social media, and another by the singer, who claimed she was filmed while undressed during a massage.
“During the raid, the complainant (MBSJ) instructed the team to record videos and take photographs to document massage-related activities and inspect the business operations,” he said in a statement today.
An inspection found the premises lacked a valid MBSJ business licence and was in violation of the Beauty and Health Care Centres By-Laws 2013.
Wan Azlan said police are also investigating a case of obstruction of public servants, involving a woman who refused to present her identification card during the raid and questioned the documentation process.
“Initial findings show the woman provoked the raiding team and recorded their actions on her phone. The complainant and the woman inspected an officer’s phone, alleged to have been used for recording, but found no photos or videos of the woman,” he said.
He added that the complainant assured that all procedures were carried out in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and legal provisions.
Wan Azlan said police are also looking into the woman’s report about the alleged secret recording, alongside the MBSJ’s report.
The investigations involve claims of obstructing public servants, insulting modesty, and sharing operational videos, under Sections 186 and 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Recently, a video uploaded by the rapper went viral on social media, in which she claimed she was secretly recorded by an MBSJ officer while undressed during a massage session at the centre.
