'Born of DAP': Amanah to file police reports against Sanusi

Amanah is set to lodge nationwide police reports against PAS, accusing the party of fostering a toxic culture of slander and provocation.

In a statement, Amanah secretary-general Faiz Fadzil said the party’s mobilisation bureau would lead the reports against PAS, citing its actions as a serious threat to national harmony.

“PAS’ culture of religious manipulation and misinformation must be challenged, as these falsehoods can fuel extremism.

“One of Amanah’s key missions is to protect Malaysian society from being deceived by PAS’ divisive political tactics.

“Malaysians deserve a peaceful society free from the extremism that PAS is cultivating today,” he said.

Earlier, the New Straits Times reported that Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar was considering legal action against Perikatan Nasional and PAS election director Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

This follows Sanusi’s claim that Amanah was created by DAP to divide PAS.

During the Himpunan Ummah Selamatkan Malaysia rally at the Kedah PAS complex yesterday, Sanusi, who is also the Kedah menteri besar, reportedly claimed that Amanah depended on DAP’s support and even copied its logo from an Indian political party.

Stirring racial, religious sentiments

Faiz (above) dismissed these claims as baseless and part of PAS’ ongoing campaign to stir religious and racial sentiments for political gain.

“This has been repeatedly used in the past and was revived again, reflecting PAS’s desperation to continue exploiting religious and racial sentiments for political gain,” he said.

Faiz also accused PAS leaders of frequently spreading misinformation about DAP, portraying it as anti-Islam and anti-Malay while simultaneously accusing Amanah of being DAP’s creation.

“These repeated falsehoods clearly indicate a well-orchestrated attack aimed at weakening Amanah,” he added.

Faiz emphasised that since its founding nine years ago, Amanah has remained committed to upholding Islamic values, something he claims PAS has strayed from.

“Amanah was formed by former PAS members and civil society figures who sought a more progressive and moderate Islamic political movement,” he said.

“Amanah is not ‘PAS 2.0’ and will continue to uphold ethical and principled politics,” he said.

According to Faiz, a police report has also been filed against an article written by Nurhafizul Badrul Hisham titled “Fitnah PAN (Amanah) Terhadap Agama Lebih Bahaya” published on Harakahdaily.
