Perikatan Nasional urged the government to stand together in opposing US president Donald Trump's plan to remove Palestinians from Gaza.
Bersatu supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said the government's efforts to aid Gaza will surely encounter roadblocks if all MPs are not involved.
This is because Putrajaya lacks the support of most Malaysians on this matter, he said in a press conference at Parliament with several PN MPs.
"We know Malaysians are divided on this matter," the Machang MP added.
He urged the Dewan Rakyat speaker to allow his motion to hold a special sitting on Palestine, saying it was needed to inform the public of the importance of aiding Gaza.
Wan Fayhsal’s (above) remark came following Trump’s plan to take over the Gaza Strip and resettle Palestinians elsewhere.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has been vocal about the plight of Palestinians, recently saying that the government would help rebuild Gaza by building a school, hospital, and mosque.

However, his announcement was met with criticism from former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz, who suggested the premier to prioritise resolving domestic issues instead.
‘State your stance’
At the press conference today, Wan Fayhsal further condemned Trump's statement, describing it as both ethnic cleansing and a form of neo-colonialism.
Bersatu supreme council member Saifuddin Abdullah, who was also present, said the country must firmly state its stance towards the matter as Trump's recent statement will affect the stability of the West Asian region.
"No country can own another people and Trump's statement is very dangerous to the world, including Gaza, which he knows to be in a critical condition after the 15-month-long war," he said.
Saifuddin further called for component parties of the coalition government to clearly state whether they support the rebuilding process in Gaza.
He said several MPs from the ruling bloc had expressed their disapproval yesterday, which hints at disunity within the government.
