HR minister to provide breakdown of HRD Corp CEO's salary

PARLIAMENT | Human Resources Minister Steven Sim will provide a breakdown of salaries paid to top executives of at least three agencies under his ministry - HRD Corp, Social Security Organisation (Socso) and TalentCorp.

Sim promised RSN Rayer (Harapan-Jelutong) this following the latter’s request for the figures and the ministry's stand on an ongoing probe against HRD Corp.

"Firstly, the salaries were not set during the time I entered (the ministry) as minister.

"I can provide (the figures), I will ask an officer to provide the breakdown," said the Bukit Mertajam MP in his ministry's winding-up of debates on the royal address.

"Of course, Jelutong said he was merely asking a question, but we must also be fair to the officers on duty, not only in government-linked companies but also statutory bodies.

"If we want to attract talent, we must offer an attractive incentive package. So I will ask an officer to provide Jelutong with a breakdown so that he will have the correct information and not just hearsay," Sim told the Dewan Rakyat today.

Rayer, who stood up to interject Sim's speech, clarified that he was not making accusations but rather seeking confirmation on rumours that the chief executive officers of HRD Corp, Socso and TalentCorp were each paid a monthly salary of up to RM120,000.

"I am seeking confirmation because it has been a subject of public discussion," he said.

Rayer also again questioned the ministry's stand over an ongoing MACC investigation against HRD Corp, and Sim reiterated that no one will be spared once the probe is completed.
