National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang wants stern action to be taken against several individuals, including controversial preacher Zamri Vinoth, for making religious insults.

Besides Zamri, those named by the minister include Vijayan Savarinathan, Saravanan Sanmugom, and a TikTok user who goes by the username “Crime_Man”.

All four had made offensive videos following the Era FM controversy, in which radio hosts mocked the Thaipusam kavadi ritual.

Zamri said that people were only imitating what Hindus did themselves while “drunk” (mabuk), while Vijayan, Saravanan, and Crime_Man made videos insulting Islam and Muslims.

In a statement last night, Aaron said their actions were “unacceptable”.

“I’m giving a stern warning to all not to repeat these irresponsible acts,” he added.

He called on the police and the MCMC to take the necessary action against those who spread irresponsible content to safeguard the country’s harmony.

Meanwhile, Aaron highlighted that his ministry is carrying out ongoing efforts to educate Malaysians about each other’s faiths and cultures through programmes such as the “Cakap Baik-Baik” (Speak Good) campaign.
