The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) is reviewing Abdul Hadi Awang's remarks alleging that voting to ensure political victory for Islam is more important than performing haj.

In a statement that did not name Hadi but referenced a news report about the PAS president's remarks, Jakim director-general Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the review is to ensure that Muslims clearly understand haj and umrah’s place in Islam.
