'Ask in WhatsApp group': Tun Faisal chides Wan Fayhsal over public criticism

A Bersatu leader has condemned party supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal’s decision to publicly question Bersatu’s ongoing state tour.

Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said such queries should have been raised internally, pointing to a WhatsApp group established for supreme council members.

“Questions like this should just be asked in the supreme council WhatsApp group,” Tun Faisal (above, left) briefly told Malaysiakini today.

He was responding to Wan Fayhsal’s recent remark, which appeared to criticise the tour for allegedly sidelining the Bersatu deputy president and vice-presidents.

In a Facebook post, the former Bersatu Youth chief also claimed that the supreme council was not informed of the programme.

“Extraordinary,” Wan Fayhsal said in the post uploaded late last night.

Malaysiakini has reached out to Wan Fayhsal for further comments.

Azmin-led tour

His post is believed to be in reference to the ongoing “Kembara Bersatu” tour led by Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali, which has so far included stops in Selangor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Perak.

Images and clips of the programme shared by the former Selangor menteri besar on Facebook show the presence of several key party figures, including vice-presidents Radzi Jidin and Ahmad Faizal Azumu, as well as other supreme council members.

Malaysiakini has also contacted Azmin for further insight on the matter.

‘Don’t be like PKR’

In a similar tone, Bersatu Youth exco member Na'im Brundage also advised party leaders to discuss their grievances internally.

Speaking at a press conference, he said Bersatu should not emulate PKR, whose members like to air their dirty laundry in public.

"Issues like this should have been discussed internally instead of writing on Facebook.

"We do not want to be like our opponent party, which likes to take their fight to the mass media," he said during the conference at Bersatu headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
