Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz has welcomed recent remarks by PAS leaders denying that the party proposed restructuring Perikatan Nasional’s leadership.
In a Facebook post, Tun Faisal (above) referred to a Malaysiakini report that cited an anonymous Bersatu source, along with subsequent clarifications issued by PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
“Statements by the two senior PAS leaders clarified that the source cited by Malaysiakini previously provided false information and aimed to damage the good relationship between Bersatu and PAS within PN,” he said.
He said the claims involved a supposed proposal from PAS to grant significant operational powers to opposition leader and Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin - a move allegedly intended to prepare him to lead the coalition in the event of a change in federal government after the next general election.
Tun Faisal also denied the source’s assertion that Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan had attended a meeting on Feb 18 involving 10 senior PN leaders - five each from Bersatu and PAS - where the restructuring was allegedly discussed.

“Wan Saiful was not involved in that meeting. The alleged restructuring proposal said to be opposed by Azmin Ali’s faction is also inaccurate.
“Any decision involving party policy is made through consensus by the Bersatu Political Bureau, the supreme council, and the PN supreme council,” he said.
Tun Faisal further reiterated that the 2024 Bersatu annual general assembly had unanimously decided there was “only one team – the Bersatu team”.
He said he had conveyed the same position on various platforms, including a recent interview with Malaysiakini, in response to the claims.
“Because I speak with facts, while Malaysiakini’s source spread false news.
“Thankfully, statements by two senior PAS leaders have now confirmed this,” he added.
