  • Bersatu Youth will be joining PAS’ ‘Turun Anwar’ rally on July 26 to be with the people in rejecting burdensome policies.

  • Its information chief Harris Idaham Rashid says they will mobilise their members from across Malaysia for the rally.

Bersatu Youth has announced it will join PAS’ “Turun Anwar” rally on July 26, saying people have the right to reject policies that will further weigh down the already struggling masses.

“Any policies that would burden the rakyat should be rejected, especially if it is implemented without transparency and not premised on ground reality.

“We will mobilise all our members from across the nation for the rally,” said its information chief Harris Idaham Rashid in a statement today.

On June 14, PAS Youth announced it was rebranding its protest against the government’s proposed Urban Renewal Act (URA) to call for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to step down.

Its chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden claimed that various issues affecting the nation since the Madani government assumed power can be traced back to one person - Anwar.

“Therefore, PAS Youth declares that the rally on July 26 in Kuala Lumpur will be renamed from a protest against the URA to the ‘Turun Anwar’ rally.

“I call on all Malaysians, political parties, and PKR supporters dissatisfied with Anwar to attend the rally,” Afnan added.

Raising awareness

Harris said prior to the rally, his team would hold campaigns to raise awareness among youths and get them to join the rally.

The gathering, he added, would symbolise the people’s rejection of the Madani government for its failure to address the rising cost of living, which is affecting the people’s well-being.

“It is time for youths to rise and tell the administration that they cannot be fooled using lies and rhetoric,” Harris added.
