Several locations in Selangor were badly hit by flash floods following heavy rain this morning.

Based on social media postings, the affected areas include Bukit Kemuning and Sri Muda in Shah Alam, and Jalan Kebun in Klang.

According to a Facebook user, many motorcyclists were stuck at the Kota Kemuning toll plaza in Shah Alam as several roads were inundated.

A livestream on TikTok showed that a housing area in Bukit Kemuning, located at Section 32 Shah Alam, was hit by a knee-deep flood.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said they have dispatched a team of rescuers to Bukit Kemuning at about 8.30am to rescue a senior citizen who was trapped inside her house.

The water level was estimated to be about one metre.

Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said so far, they only received one emergency call regarding flash flood incidents in the state this morning.

Authorities have not opened any temporary shelters at this juncture.

Weather warning

According to Bernama, the Meteorological Department had issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in most states, including Selangor, until 11am today.

Based on the warning issued at 8.30 am today, the states affected are Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak, involving Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak.

Similar weather conditions are predicted for Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Bentong), as well as the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat and Muar).
