Activist Hishamuddin Rais' lawyer has criticised the use of publicly funded state apparatus such as the police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers to protect Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s personal reputation.

“If the prime minister feels insulted, he has the right to file a civil suit in court,” said N Surendran, speaking to Malaysiakini.
