PN headquarters running at temporary location, says Azmin

Perikatan Nasional’s headquarters are currently at an “unofficial” location while new premises are being prepared, said the coalition’s secretary-general, Azmin Ali. 

In a statement last night, Azmin affirmed that the decision not to renew the lease agreement for its office at Solaris Dutamas was approved by PN’s top leadership.  

The lease, he noted, had expired in April.

“The lease was not renewed by mutual agreement between the owner and the tenant,” he said. 

He clarified that PN’s headquarters are operating as usual with the help of officers and staffers at a temporary location pending a move to the new office.

He also claimed that recent news reports about PN’s headquarters are “baseless and irresponsible”.

Yesterday, Free Malaysia Today cited sources to report that PN’s headquarters at Solaris Dutamas had been closed since March.

Party leaders had claimed to be unaware of this development, with PN deputy chairperson Hamzah Zainudin reportedly saying he was in the dark as he was no longer the opposition coalition’s secretary-general.

Hamzah was replaced by Azmin as PN secretary-general in December.

A PN lawmaker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Malaysiakini that staffers who used to work at the PN headquarters have yet to receive their salaries despite being laid off nearly two months ago.
