Summary
Selangor Perikatan Nasional secretary Dr Afif Bahardin says coalition headquarters did not shut down operations.
However, the rental lease for the current location has expired and they are looking for a new place.
Perikatan Nasional's headquarters has not ceased operations as alleged, a party leader said.
Instead, Selangor PN secretary Dr Afif Bahardin said they just don't have an office right now because their rental lease expired.
"We didn't shut down (operations), but the (rental) contract has ended. We are in the middle of finding a new location to turn into an office.
"We are still operational, meetings are still taking place. There is no issue of a closure," Afif (above) told Malaysiakini today.
Afif - who is a close confidant of PN secretary-general Azmin Ali - was responding to reports that PN's headquarters at Solaris Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur, had shuttered.
Earlier, PN deputy chairperson Hamzah Zainudin had passed the buck to Azmin when questioned about the office closure.
A lawmaker who spoke on condition of anonymity told Malaysiakini that some staff at the PN headquarters had also been laid off and not paid for the last few months.
