How many skeletons still onboard, asks Warisan after jet scandal takes off

Warisan Women’s Wing deputy chief Sabrina Yahya has lambasted the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government, claiming the state is in “ruins” under its watch following fresh revelations tied to an alleged lavish private jet holiday.

“How many more dark secrets? How many more powerful names are yet to be exposed?” she asked in a scathing statement.

Sabrina was reacting to allegations that Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM) CEO Natasha Sim, company secretary Emily Chong, and timber tycoon Elbert Lim vacationed on a private jet reportedly owned by an Indonesian coal magnate.

She pointed out that since the mining scandal first exploded in November, not a single month has passed without new bombshells or fresh names emerging.

“On Nov 19 last year, Malaysiakini reported that former SMM CEO Jontih Enggihon had lodged a police and MACC report on this so-called ‘private jet scandal’ involving Sim and Chong. Yet until today, authorities remain silent - no updates, no action,” she noted.

Sabrina pointed out that Sim had denied the accusations at the time, calling them slanderous and baseless.

“But now, the truth is beginning to surface,” she added.

Sim and the Chief Minister’s Office have yet to comment on the photograph, which has gone viral on social media and sparked calls for an investigation.

Sabrina, in her statement, demanded answers about the relationship between Sim, Chong, Lim, and the Indonesian tycoon, and urged the police and MACC to act swiftly to determine if there was misconduct, governance failures, conflicts of interest and outright corruption.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Warisan leader also questioned the decision to award Sim, 31, the honorary Justice of the Peace (JP) title during the Sabah governor’s official 74th birthday celebration on June 21.

In his reports, Jontih had alleged abuse of power, corruption, and conflict of interest, claiming Sim accepted the lavish private jet trip from the Indonesian firm without notifying SMM’s board. 

The trip was estimated to cost RM400,000 and allegedly included her husband.

SMM has filed legal action against Jontih and whistleblower businessperson Albert Tei, who exposed the mining scandal, accusing them of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, tampering with official documents, conspiracy to injure by unlawful means, and possible collusion with third parties.
