'Farhash link': PAS demands MACC probe, independent audit of SMM

Sabah PAS has demanded that MACC investigate allegations that a large-scale mineral exploration licence was granted in Kalabakan to a company linked to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador.

Its information chief, Mustaman Mustain, said that although both Farhash (above) and Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM) have denied the allegations, leaked meeting minutes suggested otherwise.

“This scandal clearly raises serious questions about transparency, integrity, and the interests of the people of Sabah, especially in the management of the state’s natural resources.

“Moreover, the scale of the area involved is enormous, and there has been no explanation regarding the potential environmental impact, effects on local communities, or whether proper technical evaluations were carried out,” he added in a statement.

Mustaman said MACC must immediately open an official investigation and summon all individuals named in the reports and leaked documents to testify.

“Any delay in probing this matter risks the plunder of Sabah’s natural wealth and the erosion of public trust in enforcement institutions,” he added.

At the same time, Mustaman said the Sabah state government and SMM must disclose all information regarding the licensed company, including its actual owners, sources of funding, and the company’s ownership structure.

He also called for SMM to undergo a comprehensive and independent audit by a neutral agency.

“If fraud, tampering of meeting minutes, or conflicts of interest are found in the license issuance process, all involved must be prosecuted without compromise,” he added.

Sabah PAS also demanded that the approval granted to Bumi Suria Sdn Bhd be immediately suspended pending a full investigation, as this is crucial to prevent any potentially illegal business dealings, environmental destruction, or violation of local community rights.

“Ultimately, the people of Sabah will not remain passive observers when it comes to matters involving the land and resources of their state.

“Any abuse of power, betrayal of trust, or improper acquisition of the state’s wealth will be met with full resistance,” he added.

On Monday, Farhash lodged a police report against online portal MalaysiaNow, claiming that the allegations were false and defamatory.
