Bukit Aman takes over Zara death probe, Musa wants no stone unturned

A special task force from Bukit Aman will take over investigations into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

In a statement today, police said the special task force consists of nine officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, to ensure the probe is thorough and transparent.

Separately, Sabah governor Musa Aman has called for no stone to be left unturned in the investigation.

“The investigation must be conducted with the utmost diligence, without fear or favour, and guided solely in the pursuit of truth and justice,” the Sabah palace said in a statement.

Musa also encouraged Muslims in Sabah to join tahlil prayers organised throughout the state on Thursday night, and for non-Muslims to also pray for Zara in their own respective way.

Zara, 13, was found unconscious in a drain below her school dormitory in Papar on July 16 and died the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I in Kota Kinabalu.

Her family believes bullying may have played a role.

Her death has sparked claims that individuals linked to VVIPs were involved.

One of those allegations claimed that one of the suspects was a girl named Farisya, purportedly Musa’s granddaughter through his son-in-law, Sabah minister Arifin Arif.

Arifin denied this, saying he neither has a daughter named Farisya, nor did he have a child who attended the same school as Zara.
