Apologise for calling govt 'cruel', 100 other slanders - PM tells Muhyiddin

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today said Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin would also have to apologise for allegedly making slanderous remarks against the government.

“These claims include that the government is cruel and that it did not allocate funds for Kelantan, and a hundred more such claims,” Free Malaysia Today reported him as saying after attending the Asean Law Forum in Kuala Lumpur.

Early this month, Anwar claimed in Parliament that Muhyiddin had defended giving fuel subsidies to foreigners, saying that they, too, contribute to the country.

Muhyiddin denied this, and Anwar subsequently ordered the MCMC to launch a probe, which focused on a TikTok video.

This led to questions about whether Anwar was duped by a possibly fraudulent TikTok video.

Last week, Anwar said he was willing to apologise to Muhyiddin for alleging the latter defended subsidies for foreigners - but not right now.

Instead, Anwar told Parliament he was still waiting for the MCMC to determine whether the source of information he had cited was false.

Anwar also claimed that he had three sources of information, of which one has been verified as false, while the other two are unclear.
