TH Plantations Berhad CEO Mohamed Zainurin Mohamed Zain was sacked, with the company citing “misconduct” as the reason.

“A letter of termination has been duly issued to him today,” the company said in a Bursa Malaysia filing.

Zainurin was appointed to the position on Oct 1, 2021.

A separate filing listed “misconduct” as the reason for his removal without elaboration, but the move followed an earlier Bursa announcement on July 18.

In the Bursa announcement in July, the company said Zainurin was issued a show cause letter and placed on garden leave, in relation to “alleged unauthorised payments of RM5.1 million made to the plantation workers”.

The company had announced at the time that its chief financial officer Marliyana Omar was also being issued a show cause letter, but she opted to resign with immediate effect.
