Umno Youth will be lodging reports with the police and MACC over the sale of  Tabung Haji Plantations (THP) subsidiaries, allegedly for RM210 million less than it should be.

The wing's chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki (photo) said Bumi Suria Ventures Bhd and Maju Warisanmas Sdn Bhd had been valued at RM380 million in 2017.

However, the two Sarawak-based assets were sold to Tamaco Plantations Sdn Bhd in December for just RM170 million.

Asyraf said the lower valuation was due to a change in the appraiser.

"Umno Youth is lodging the report with police and MACC to investigate the act of changing the appraiser, and the valuation which dropped the value by RM210 million, as well as the sale to Tamaco," he said at a press conference today.

He added that they were also contemplating an injunction on behalf of Tabung Haji depositors.

THP had said selling the two companies, which reportedly had been underperforming, was part of its rationalisation plan.

Asyraf questioned the rationale of selling oil palm plantations at a time when fresh fruit bunch and crude palm oil prices were at a high.

He said de facto Islamic affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa, who oversees Tabung Haji, should also state his stance regarding the rationalisation plan.
