Selangor MB backs Nurul Izzah as successor, but Anwar says no idea
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari’s proposal to name Nurul Izzah Anwar as his successor was met with a blank response from her father, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Amirudin made the suggestion during an interview on the Keluar Sekejap podcast, hinting that he might be taking up a federal government portfolio.
“And honestly, I’ve already put the idea to Izzah (above) herself. It’s up to her whether to take it or not.
“Personally, yes, I have started considering moving to the federal level. If there is a ministerial opportunity, no problem, I will try my best. But for now, I will finish my term as menteri besar,” Free Malaysia Today reported him saying in the latest episode of the show, hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan.
Anwar, when questioned on the matter, said there have been no discussions about his daughter, who is also PKR deputy president, assuming Amirudin’s role in Selangor.
Bernama reported him saying that the proposal is Amirudin’s own view, which was not discussed.

“That is his view. He never discussed it with me,” he reportedly told reporters in South Africa, where he is on an official visit.
“When is the election? Still a long way to go… we will discuss later.
"That is only one position. There are three vacancies, at least,” Anwar replied when asked about the Gombak MP’s willingness to undertake duties at the federal level.
Resignations, cabinet reshuffle speculations
Anwar also reportedly remained tight-lipped when asked about a possible cabinet reshuffle.
Talks of an impending cabinet reshuffle have been circulating for some time, particularly following the recent resignation of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister and Sabah's Pakatan Harapan chief, Ewon Benedick.
He quit the cabinet over dissatisfaction with the federal government’s handling of Sabah’s 40 percent revenue entitlement.
The speculation was initially fuelled by the impending end of Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s senator term on Dec 2.

Two other cabinet posts have been vacant since May, following the resignations of economy minister Rafizi Ramli and natural resources and environment sustainability minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, after their defeats in the PKR polls.
Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan is temporarily assuming Rafizi’s role, while Plantation and Commodities Minister Johari Abdul Ghani assumed Nik Nazmi's.
