PKR Youth not silent on graft, info chief tells Albert's lawyer

PKR Youth has slammed claims that it has been silent on corruption committed by politicians, calling such narratives "lazy" and "malicious".

Its information chief Danish Hairudin pointed out that the wing is consistent in its stand that graft allegations must be reported to the MACC and investigated.

"Full stop. No need for drama, no need for a sympathetic script and the process is underway," he said in a statement today.

Even in the Malacca PKR chief Shamsul Iskandar Akin’s case, the MACC must investigate independently, and the courts must decide on guilt, he added.

Danish (above) was responding to lawyer Mahajoth Singh, who criticised him and PKR Youth for attacking his client, businessperson Albert Tei.

On Friday, Danish slammed Tei for pleading not guilty to corruption charges in court, saying it was contrary to the latter’s previous statements.

Tei and Shamsul are on trial together for allegedly giving and receiving over RM240,000 in bribes.

Prior to being charged in court, Tei had told Malaysiakini that he had spent more than RM620,000 on Shamsul after being assured that the former aide to the prime minister could help recoup money allegedly given to the politicians in Sabah.

Mahajoth had said that it was Tei's legal right to plead not guilty.

Danish, however, retorted that graft is graft, even if it is shrouded in tears and a vocal lawyer.
