Bersatu sacks Chegubard

Bersatu has terminated its Port Dickson division chief, Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, from the party.

In a notice sighted by Malaysiakini, Bersatu disciplinary board chairperson Radzi Manan said Badrul (above) was dismissed for contravening Clause 9.1.4 of the party’s constitution and its members’ code of conduct and ethics.

The activist also failed to respond to a showcause letter issued by the board on March 10, Radzi added.

“Please be informed that the disciplinary board has decided that you are expelled from the party with all membership rights revoked under Clause 22.5, effective from the date of this letter,” he said.

Clause 9.1.4 refers to a provision in Bersatu’s constitution about carrying out work for the party and taking part in its meetings and activities.

Ruining party image claims

While the letter did not elaborate on the specifics of Badrul’s violations, the politician reportedly told the media on Tuesday that he was accused of tarnishing Bersatu’s image during a press conference on July 9 last year.

The board had also asked Badrul to explain several comments he had made on social media, where he used insults, including “mangkuk hayun” (stupid).

It was reported that Badrul confirmed his sacking from Bersatu, saying he was informed of the matter via WhatsApp at about 6pm yesterday.

“It is clear the party no longer champions the people’s issues, with the president favouring certain figures who have been threatening everyone to follow the president,” he was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

Badrul is the latest prominent figure to be kicked out of Bersatu since last month. On Feb 13, the party dismissed 17 other leaders, including its deputy president, Hamzah Zainudin.

Several other leaders have also been suspended, including Ronald Kiandee and Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
