Abandoned vehicles

• A Kuala Lumpur City Hall programme will offer RM100 to RM2,000 in cash incentives for the disposal of abandoned vehicles.

  This voluntary initiative aims to address parking shortages and traffic congestion, particularly in dense neighbourhoods like Lembah Pantai.

  Bernama reported that the programme is in collaboration with Car Medic Sdn Bhd and was launched by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

  

  Fahmi, who is the Lembah Pantai MP, cited Pangsapuri Pantai Permai as an example, which has about 120 abandoned vehicles, including motorcycles.

Crisis aid

• The Selangor government, through 12 local councils, will provide free breakfast to students at 873 schools.

  Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the breakfast programme, which falls under the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package, will begin in August, Bernama reported.

  He explained that the package to help people and businesses face the global energy crisis will be launched in June with a RM130.42 million allocation.

  Through the package, the state will also allocate RM25 million to cover the cost of fuel or agricultural inputs, as support for farmers, fisherfolk, and breeders.

• Umno supreme council member Ahmad Maslan said a decision will be made tomorrow on former leaders and members who have applied to rejoin the party.

  “This is for the first group of applicants. There is no deadline for submissions, and a decision will be made tomorrow for the first batch. Personally, I fully support all of them,” Malaysia Gazette reported him saying.

  According to the report, among those seeking to rejoin Umno are suspended Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein and sacked former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

Traffic accident

• Singer Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin was involved in a road accident involving four vehicles on the Maju Expressway (MEX).

  Sinar Harian cited a statement by her manager, Rozi Abdul Razak, saying Siti was on her way home after performing at an event in Sepang, Selangor.

  

  After the accident, Rozi and her team reportedly helped Siti out of the damaged vehicle and into their own car. Siti was taken to the hospital, where she was found to have suffered bruising and swelling on her leg.

• Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong said his call for an emergency declaration to delay the Malacca election is just a proposal.

  He said if the idea wasn’t useful, others could suggest alternatives, such as waiting for the economy to stabilise first.

  Khoo added that the Malacca election is only due by February next year, and told his critics there was no need to be smug.

  Yesterday, Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh called Khoo “bodoh” (foolish) and said the proposal showed that DAP should be kicked out of government.

• Seven Sabah opposition lawmakers from Warisan have denied claims they are receiving government allocations.

  In a joint statement, they did not reveal the source of the claims, which they described as false and potentially defamatory.

  

  The seven are Azhar Matussin (Darau), Edna Majimbun (Inanam), Tham Yun Fook (Likas), Loi Kok Liang (Api-Api), Samuel Wong (Luyang), Junz Wong (Tanjung Aru) and Chin Tek Ming (Kapayan).

  “Warisan representatives will continue to serve the people with full commitment, integrity, and responsibility, even without any government allocations,” they said.

  Warisan, which won 25 of the 73 state seats in the November 2025 state election, is in opposition to the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-led state government.

• Amanah is keen to contest the Putrajaya Parliament seat, said the party’s Federal Territories chief Khalid Abdul Samad.

  The seat was a BN stronghold until Perikatan Nasional wrested it in 2022. In that election, Pakatan Harapan was represented by PKR.

  Khalid said at a press conference last night that Amanah may also be interested in Labuan and Titiwangsa.

  

  Titiwangsa is held by BN’s Johari Abdul Ghani (41.1pct of votes), who beat Khalid (33.5pct) and candidates from PN (23.9pct) and Pejuang (1.5pct) in 2022.

• Bersatu’s Rompin MP Abdul Khalib Abdullah has confirmed that he has been terminated from the party’s Pahang chief post.

  He told Malaysiakini that the letter terminating his service was received from the Bersatu president’s office on April 7, and his successor has yet to be named.

  

  He said he accepted the decision to remove him, saying it was party president Muhyiddin Yassin’s prerogative.

  Khalib was one of the 18 Bersatu MPs said to be supporting former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.

Fuel crisis

• The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry is probing a petrol station at the Juru northbound R&R stop for refusing to sell diesel to some commuters.

  According to Bernama, the ministry’s Penang director said checks found that the station still had diesel, but supply had dropped to 50 percent on Monday. This led to the station’s management rationing sales, prioritising “regulars”.

• Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said one person will be charged at the Sepang Sessions Court with spreading fake news about fuel price hikes.

  

  He told Bernama TV last night that another five will be issued compounds.

  He said the Attorney-General’s Chambers made the decision after reviewing MCMC’s investigation papers.
