• Malaysia is talking to “real partners” to acquire missiles for its littoral combat ships (LCS), Defence Minister Khaled Nordin said in an industry forum in Singapore today, according to AFP.

  Previously, he was reported as saying that three or four countries have submitted offers to supply the missiles to Malaysia after Norway cancelled shipment early this month.

• Khaled, during the same forum, is also reported to have lashed out at other countries for keeping mum on Norway’s breach of contract.

  

  “No serious concern was raised about the integrity of contracts or accountability. This deafening silence sends a dangerous message that some countries are simply above scrutiny,” he was quoted as saying by AFP.

  He also criticised alleged double standards in applying international law between developing countries and “powerful countries”.

  The New Straits Times reported Khaled as saying that his Norwegian counterpart had apologised over the cancelled contract but that the missile shipment remains cancelled.
