National shuttlers Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani overcame a noisy Istora Senayan arena to win the Indonesia Open title, defeating home favourites Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin in three sets.

Goh-Izzuddin won the final 13-21, 21-18, 21-10 in 48 minutes to lift the prestigious World Tour Super 1000 title, pocketing US$107,300 (RM432,476).

It is their second title this year, the first also coming in the same arena, beating the same pair in the Indonesia Masters in January.

Goh-Izzuddin began the final sluggishly, unable to handle Indra and Joaquin’s fast pace, and the former appeared to be heading for defeat in the second set with the Indonesian pair taking a commanding lead.

But the national pair showed tenacity, mounting a comeback to win the second set and force a decider, and with the home heroes seemingly rattled, Goh-Izzuddin cruised to victory.

Goh and Izzuddin’s triumph also ended an 18-year title drought for Malaysia in men’s doubles at the Indonesia Open. The last national pair to win it was Zakry Abdul Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari in 2008.
